Kendrick Lamar Raps 'Alright' With Compton Residents in New Grammys Promo

Ahead of his potential big night at the 2016 Grammys, the rapper returns to his hometown and joins the city's residents to rap his nominated song in the newly-released promo.

AceShowbiz - Compton native Kendrick Lamar is the biggest nominee of the 2016 Grammy Awards with 11 nods. Ahead of the annual event, the rapper returns to his hometown and shows some love for his homies in a promo titled "Witness Greatness".

The two-and-a-half-minute video below, shared by the Grammys on Monday, January 25, mostly shows a number of Compton residents taking turn rapping the lines to Lamar's "Alright" with the city's streets as the background. The 28-year-old star appears later in the clip in an L.A. Dodgers cap and Compton sweatshirt to chant, "We gon' be alright," with a huge crowd surrounding him.

Lamar's 11 Grammy nominations include Song of the Year, Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song for "Alright" as well as Album of the Year and Best Rap Album for "To Pimp a Butterfly" on which the song is included. He is also scheduled to perform during the ceremony on Monday night, February 15.
