The veteran actor reportedly earned a heap of money to reprise his role of Han Solo in the latest installment of the sci-fi movie franchise.

AceShowbiz - Disney and Lucasfilm may have grossed more than $500 million with their movie "Star Wars: The Force Awakens", but they also spent a lot just to secure one of the main actors. According to reports, the studios paid Harrison Ford over fifty times more than his co-stars.

Daily Mail reports that Ford, who is also allegedly set to receive 0.5 percent of the film's gross earnings, earned a staggering $25 million to reprise his role of Han Solo for the seventh installment of the sci-fi film franchise. However, a Disney insider tells Variety that it's not true and the number's way too high.

Though so, other sources confirm that the 73-year-old actor did earn a substantially larger cut than his co-stars. According to sources, original stars Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher who also returned for the new movie received low-seven-figure paychecks.

Meanwhile, newcomers John Boyega and Daisy Ridley were reportedly paid in the low-six-figure range ($100k-$300k). As for Adam Driver and Oscar Isaac who have more experiences in film and TV work, they allegedly made more than Boyega and Ridley who had never appeared in a large-scale film before.

Hamill and Fisher are likely to make more money for the next installments since their characters are expected to have bigger roles in future films. As for Ford, his huge paycheck also had to do with the fact that this would be a one-off situation for him since his character won't return in the next sequel.

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" earned $248 million domestically in its first weekend alone, surpassing the record set by "Jurassic World" with $208.8 million earlier this year for the biggest opening weekend gross. The movie has earned a total of $528 million worldwide so far.
