Disney Star Dean Jones Dies of Parkinson's Disease

The 'Herbie' actor is announced to have passed away in Los Angeles at the age of 84 after struggling with Parkinson's Disease.

AceShowbiz - Actor Dean Jones who was inducted into the Disney Legends Hall of Fame in 1995 passed away on Tuesday, September 1. The Disney star died of Parkinson's disease in Los Angeles, his publicist Richard Hoffman broke the sad news. He was 84.

Dean Jones appeared in multiple Disney movies and TV series like "That Darn Cat!" and "Herbie, the Love Bug". He was best known for his role as Jim Douglas, a race car driver who drove Herbie, a Volkswagen Beetle with a mind of its own. His film grosses exceeded $960 million.

Director Edgar Wright is among those paying tribute to the movie veteran. "RIP Dean Jones. Hoping you ride Herbie into Valhalla," he tweeted. A memorial service will be scheduled for a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Christian Rescue Fund c/o Jubilee Campaign USA, in Fairfax, VA.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Lory; three children, Caroline Jones, Deanna Demaree, and Michael Pastick; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
