The legendary rap group's 1988 single 'Straight Outta Compton' from their 1988 album of the same name becomes their first top 40 hit as it debuts at No. 38 on this week's list.

AceShowbiz - N.W.A finally has a single to land on Billboard Hot 100. The legendary rap collective whose members include Dr. Dre, Ice Cube and Eazy-E made their first-ever appearance on the all-genre chart, and their first inside the top 40, with a song that was released 27 years ago.

"Straight Outta Compton", which arrived in 1988, made its debut at No. 38 on this week's list. To those who wonder how a nearly-three-decade song is allowed to enter the Hot 100, Billboard explains that "older songs are eligible to chart if ranking in the top 50 and showing notable gains in sales, streaming and/or airplay."

N.W.A's first Hot 100 hit is lifted off their album of the same title, which is now sitting at No. 4 on Billboard 200. The LP first peaked at No. 37 following its arrival in 1988.

The sales bumps of "Straight Outta Compton" single and album follow the success of the recently-released N.W.A biopic, also titled "Straight Outta Compton". The movie has made more than $111 million at the U.S. and Canada box office through August 23.
