Amid rumors he's dating the former 'The Only Way Is Essex' star, the 'Stay with Me' hitmaker posts on Instagram a topless snap of himself with a 'shush' expression.

AceShowbiz - In the wake of rumors that he's dating former "The Only Way Is Essex" star Charlie King, Sam Smith took to Instagram to post a topless picture of himself making a "shush" gesture. However, the topless picture had nothing to do with the dating rumors.

In the picture which he posted on Sunday, July 26, the "Stay with Me" hitmaker made a "sush" expression by putting his index finger to his lips. Instead of talking about the said rumors, Sam teased his appearance on Disclosure's "Omen" music video in a caption for the picture. It read, "1 DAY TILL @disclosure 'OMEN' featuring myself."

Recently, Sam and Charlie reportedly visited quiet pubs and spent time at the 23-year-old singer's flat to avoid being seen together. According to The Sun, the two got close after Charlie sent a series of gushing tweets about how amazing he thought the Grammy Award winner was.

"The pair hung out to discover if they were compatible. Friends have said nothing romantic happened because they decided they were better off as friends," a source told the publication. "They enjoyed each other's company as both are quite deep individuals. They deliberately never took any pictures together because they wanted to keep it under wraps."

Apparently, Sam's busy schedules were the reasons why they decided stay in friend zone. "Sam's schedule is incredibly hectic so their dates were very sporadic. They mutually decided in May that it wasn't going to work."
