Nuns Prevent Katy Perry From Buying Their Convent, Sell It to Restaurateur

'Well, I found Katy Perry and I found her videos and ... if it's all right to say, I wasn't happy with any of it,' said Sister Rita Callanan about the 'Firework' hitmaker.

AceShowbiz - Elderly sisters of Immaculate Heart of Mary seemed unhappy if Katy Perry would be the one owning their vacant convent in the hills of Los Feliz, Los Angeles. The nuns, who reportedly have no legal rights over the property, quickly sold the convent to a local restaurateur Dana Hollister for $15.5 million.

According to LA Times, there are two of the last five living sisters of the Immaculate Heart, Catherine Rose and Rita Callanan, who insisted the property was theirs. They argued that only they who could sell it. However, Los Angeles Archbishop Jose Gomez said he had the rights to sell the property and planned to sell it to the singer of "The One That Got Away" for about $14.5 million. The archdiocese, in fact, is completing the paperwork on the sale to Perry, who has agreed to pay all of it in cash.

Perry reportedly wants to turn the old convent into her home. The 30-year-old singer seems to be really into the property as she tried to make a good impression on the nuns at a recent meeting. She reportedly wore a more covering dress. According to two of the nuns, she sang "Oh Happy Day" for them and showed them a "Jesus" tattoo on her wrist area.

Unfortunately, Perry didn't seem to be able to steal the nuns' heart as they saw her from another side. "Well, I found Katy Perry and I found her videos and ... if it's all right to say, I wasn't happy with any of it," said Sister Rita. When Sister Rita watched Perry at Super Bowl singing "Teenage Dream", including the lines, "Let you put your hands on me. In my skin-tight jeans," she was quite surprised. Sister Rita then watched Perry was lifted off the ground and flew around the stadium as if riding a shooting star. "I thought, is that a way to make money?" Sister Rita said. "Maybe I could fly around. I could be the flying nun."

Regarding the dispute, the diocese has sued Hollister in order to have her purchase voided because it lacked the required approval from the Archdiocese. Attorney Michael Hennigan who represents Gomez argued that three of the five sisters had signed declarations supporting Gomez's right to sell the property. But the other two nuns, Sisters Catherine and Rita, suggested that the three might not understand what they were signing.
