Movie

Star of the disaster-themed movie 'The Impossible' took to Instagram to show off his acrobatic Spidey-like skills which he performs in his backyard.

AceShowbiz - Tom Holland has been in contention to star in an untitled new Spider-Man movie. While there hasn't been any official confirmation whether or not he will portray the new version of Spider-Man, Holland posted three videos on Instagram which show off his acrobatic Spidey-like skills.

The three video capture Holland performing his skills in his backyard. All of the videos which feature Holland turning into a somersault are presented in slow motion. Although actors don't have to be particularly acrobatic to play superheroes, it is not impossible that the videos shown are part of Holland's effort to win the role as the web slinger.

Meanwhile, it seems like Sony and Marvel are trying to get the best actor to play a young Spidey. They have tested several actors for the role including Judah Lewis, Matthew Lintz, Charlie Plummer and Charlie Rowe with Asa Butterfield as the frontrunner. However, recent report said that the studios had narrowed down the shortlist to Holland, Plumer and Lintz, while Butterfield was out of contention.

As of now, there is no director attached to the project just yet, but Ted Melfi ("St. Vincent") and Jonathan Levine ("Warm Bodies") are said to be the most favorite directors to take the job. The "Spider-Man" reboot centers on Parker in his high school years. In the upcoming movie, he has already been bitten by the radioactive spider so his origin story won't be addressed again. It is scheduled for a U.S. release on July 28, 2017.
