Kate Mara Is Held Hostage in 'Captive' First Trailer

While struggling from a drug addiction, Ashley Smith (Mara) is taken hostage in her own apartment by an escaped convict.

AceShowbiz - The first trailer for thriller "Captive (2015)" has arrived. The trailer gives idea about the plotline of the story which focuses on Kate Mara's character who is kidnaped by David Oyelowo's character after he escaped from jail.

The trailer highlights Ashley Smith (Mara), a drug-addicted mother, who is desperate after his husband dies. Meanwhile, Brian Nichols (Oyelowo) is a man in jail who is waiting for his trial. Desperate to make contact with his newborn son, Nichols murders the judge assigned to his case and escapes from jail.

While becoming the subject of a manhunt, Nichols takes Smith hostage in her own apartment. Living together with Nichols, Smith reads Rick Warren's inspirational book, "The Purpose Driven Life". In reading from the book, Smith not only finds purpose in her own life, but also helps Nichols find a more peaceful resolution to a harrowing situation. "The greatest tragedy isn't a death, but life without purpose," Smith reads the book to Nichols.

"Captive" is based on a real event and is directed by Jerry Jameson, who hasn't made a feature film since 2004's "Last Flight Out". The film also stars Jessica Oyelowo, Leonor Varela, Mimi Rogers and Michael K. Williams. It is scheduled for a release in U.S. theaters on September 18.
