The 'Planet of the Apes' mo-cap actor is confirmed to portray a Supreme Leader in the upcoming 'Star Wars' installment.

AceShowbiz - What character Andy Serkis is going to play in the much-anticipated "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" has been unearthed. The actor best known for his motion-capture roles in "Lord of the Rings" and "Planet of the Apes" movies is set to do what he does best.

In an unpublished picture taken by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz from the "Star Wars" set for the new edition of Vanity Fair, Serkis is seen donning a full mo-cap gear for his role. In an interview with StarWars.com, Leibovitz reveals that the actor plays Supreme Leader Snoke.

Directed by J.J. Abrams, the film will see Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, and Mark Hamill returning as Han Solo, Princess Leia, and Luke Skywalker respectively. Adam Driver is added as villainous Kylo Ren, Lupita Nyong'o as pirate Maz Kanata, Oscar Isaac as X-wing pilot, and Gwendoline Christie as Captain Phasma.
