Artist of the Week: Britney Spears
Music

The pop singer previewed her new album, a follow-up to 2013's 'Britney Jean', with the Iggy Azalea-assisted 'Pretty Girls' that recently debuted at No. 29 on Billboard Hot 100.

AceShowbiz - Between the shows on her Las Vegas residency at Planet Hollywood, Britney Spears has also been working on her new music. As a preview of what's to come, the pop diva released earlier this month "Pretty Girls" which is planned to lead her new album, a follow-up to 2013's "Britney Jean".

The super catchy and upbeat song was penned by Little Mix and features guest verse from Iggy Azalea. The Aussie raptress was the one who revealed the collaboration back in November and continuously teased it in Twitter posts and interviews.

"I saw her video and I was just a huge fan. I was thinking about my next single for my next album and what I was gonna do, and I wanted to do a girl anthem," Britney explained why she wanted to do a song with Iggy in a phone chat with Z100.

"Something that was very girl empowering and that was kinda funny. I thought a whole take on valley girls and just kind of making fun of that would be fun for us to do. She was really down for it," she continued.

Not only did Iggy rap a few bars on the track, but she also directed the accompanying music video that came out just a week after the single was released.

"This has been the first video I've done in a while where, you know, I came up with the concept and there's a lot of dancing. I got new choreographers to come in and kind of do hip-hop dancing, which I haven't done in a really long time, so the feel of the video is really different and hi-energy. My dancers were there, my dancers from my show. There's a club scene, there's a car-wash scene, a couple of different other scenes...we had a lot of fun," she added.

"Pretty Girls" was met with generally positive reviews from fans. Debuting at No. 29 on Billboard Hot 100, it's been a strong contender for the song of the summer title.
