AceShowbiz - Openly gay singer Sam Smith wants to become a voice for gay youth all over the world who face difficulty with their sexuality. Even greater, he would also like to establish his own charity.
Speaking to French magazine Tetu to mark its 20th anniversary, the British singer revealed, "I would like to become a voice for gay youth in difficulty around the world. I just created a foundation." He went on relating his sexuality with his music, saying "I like the idea that there may have homophobic guys who listen to my record and they have no clue that I'm gay!"
Smith, who came out of the closet last year, has previously revealed that he has been verbally and physically abused due to his sexuality. "When I moved to London I got punched in the neck walking back from work. It was definitely homophobic," he previously told The Sun. "I was on the phone speaking quite loudly and had pink earphones on so it was pretty clear I was gay."
