Director Evan Goldberg and actors Seth Rogen and James Franco are celebrating on Twitter after the Kim Jong-Un assassination comedy was brought back following a brief cancellation.

AceShowbiz - Sony has announced a new release date for "The Interview" starring Seth Rogen and James Franco. The comedy about the assassination of North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un was supposed to make its way out last week, but the release came to a halt when hackers vowed a 9/11-style attack. It's now set for a limited release on December 25.

"We have never given up on releasing The Interview and we're excited our movie will be in a number of theaters on Christmas Day," said Sony Entertainment chairman and CEO Michael Lynton. "At the same time, we are continuing our efforts to secure more platforms and more theaters so that this movie reaches the largest possible audience."

He continued, "I want to thank our talent on The Interview and our employees, who have worked tirelessly through the many challenges we have all faced over the last month. While we hope this is only the first step of the film's release, we are proud to make it available to the public and to have stood up to those who attempted to suppress free speech."

Director Evan Goldberg tweeted, "Thanks to everyone who didn't give up on our movie! @Sethrogen & I are humbled & overwhelmed by your support. Hope you enjoy the film!" Rogen, who also helped at the helm, wrote on his own page, "The people have spoken! Freedom has prevailed! Sony didn't give up! The Interview will be shown at theaters willing to play it on Xmas day!"

Franco also gushed, "VICTORY!!!!!!! The PEOPLE and THE PRESIDENT have spoken!!! SONY to release THE INTERVIEW in theaters on XMAS DAY." He added, "CELEBRATING!!!!! 'The Interview' starring Seth Rogen and James Flacco saved by President Obacco! I MEAN PRESIDENT OBAMA!!!!! Sorry!!!" The actor made fun of Mr. President for mistakenly calling him James Flacco in his previous speech.
