AceShowbiz - Gina Rodriguez opened up about her personal health scare in an interview with Entertainment Tonight on Monday, October 13. Gina revealed she was recently diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroiditis, which is also called autoimmune or chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis.
The actress, who was diagnosed with thyroid disease at the age of 19, said she didn't know she had Hashimoto's thyroiditis until she completed filming the pilot episode of "Jane the Virgin". Her doctors were shocked because she's doing well despite her Hashimoto's thyroiditis diagnosis.
Gina recalled, "[My doctor said] 'To be honest, I don't know how you're standing right now and why you're not asleep.' I was like, 'I just ran a half marathon.' "
Gina stars on "Jane the Virgin" along with Justin Baldoni, Brett Dier and Andrea Navedo. The drama series, which was premiered on October 13, airs every Monday night on The CW at 9/8c.
