AceShowbiz - "The Sing-Off" is returning for a fifth season on NBC. The a cappella competition show from Sony Pictures Television and Mark Burnett's One Three Media has been renewed and will be part of a holiday event broadcast.
Auditions for the new season are currently underway. The number of episodes and air date pattern are unknown at this time but the fourth season aired as a five-night strip. The show was previously out of NBC's schedule for almost a year and a half after the third season but it was brought back for another round in 2013.
"The Sing-Off" features a cappella groups who compete for a recording contract from Epic Records/Sony Music. Each episode, they perform show-stopping numbers from a selection of top pop chart, to R&B, rock, country and more.
It is also yet clear whether Shawn Stockman, Ben Folds and Jewel Kilcher will be returning as judges or if Nick Lachey will be back as host.
