Officials at a London town hall deny reports that Clooney is marrying his girlfriend in London on Friday, writing, 'We are NOT conducting the wedding of Mr. Clooney at this office today.'

AceShowbiz - George Clooney and his fiancee Amal Alamuddin are not getting married in London on Friday, September 12. Officials at a London town hall have issued a statement denying the tabloid reports as a number of fans and photographers showed up at the office.

In a statement pinned outside the office, the officials said, "We have assisted in the legal preliminaries for a proposed wedding for George Clooney and his fiancee. We do not give out details of the date or time of any wedding ceremony. A certificate of no impediment was applied for and has been issued as no objection was raised. ... We are NOT conducting the wedding of Mr. Clooney at this office today and a film crew and press photographers would only cause plausible disruption to other couples getting married on this day."

According to Reuters, there were nine couples who got married at Chelsea Town Hall on Friday and many of them chose to leave through the back entrance to avoid the crowd of fans and photographers. "We didn't have any idea about this," said Rebecca English who tied the knot that day, as quoted by PEOPLE. "When I came in this morning, I just saw this mass of people and started thinking, 'What on earth is that?' Now I know how it feels to be famous!"

During a recent appearance at a charity event in Florence, Italy, multiple media reported that the "Gravity" actor said he and his fiancee would exchange vows in Venice. "I met my lovely bride-to-be in Italy (and) will be marrying (her) in a couple of weeks, in Venice," he reportedly said on September 7.
