"Scooby-Doo" is getting a new live-action treatment. According to Deadline, Warner Bros. has hired Randall Green to write a fresh screenplay for the reboot based on the popular Hanna-Barbera television cartoon series of the same name.

The first film arrived in 2002. Directed by Raja Gosnell, it starred Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar, Linda Cardellini, and Matthew Lillard as the members of crime-solving gang Mystery Inc., while Neil Fanning voiced the titular dog.

A sequel "Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed" was released two years later. The original main cast returned to reprise their respective roles. The director was back as well along with James Gunn who wrote the first movie. The two flicks combined grossed over $450M worldwide.

A prequel called "Scooby-Doo! The Mystery Begins" with younger cast was made in 2009 as a direct-to-TV movie.
