Sony Wins Bidding War of Santa Claus Origin Script


The studio reportedly beats other major studios and reaches a $1 million deal with the script writers Ben Lustig and Jake Thornton.

"Winter's Knight", a script depicting the origin of Santa Claus, reportedly becomes a hot commodity in Hollywood. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sony Pictures has won the bidding war in an auction to adapt the story into the big screen.

Sony is allegedly in the process of closing a $1 million deal with Ben Lustig and Jake Thornton, the duo who wrote the story. "Kon-Tiki" helmers Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg are attached as directors, while Lawrence Grey and Marc E. Platt are on board as producers.

The movie is set to be a reimagining of Saint Nick's backstory with the addition of Vikings elements. The story reportedly attracted interest from major studios like Warner Bros., Disney, and Universal. No other detail for the project is available.
