'Ender's Game' May Get TV Spin-Off as Sequel Is in Limbo

Lionsgate CEO says the studio is considering to continue Ender's story on television while they wait another week or two before deciding whether to make the movie sequel.

"Ender's Game" story may continue on television. During a quarterly studio conference call on Friday, November 8, Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer revealed that a TV spin-off to the sci-fi action movie was under consideration as they're still undecided about the follow-up to the Asa Butterfield-starring film.

Feltheimer said the studio would "wait another week or two" before making the decision on a sequel. The Gavin Hood-directed pic, which is based on Orson Scott Card's novel, has raked in $41 million worldwide out of its estimated $110 million budget, but Feltheimer said that the film had been performing "virtually on base" with internal expectations.

"Ender's Game" received negative publicity before its release, with a pro-LGBT group named Geeks Out protesting against the film due to Card's anti-gay views. The group urged people not to watch the film.

To put an end to the community's plan to boycott the movie, Lionsgate released a statement that announced that it would host a benefit premiere to prove its commitment to the LGBT community.
