The 'Paperboy' star threw both hands in front of her to avoid hitting her head when a photographer racing on a bike slammed into her on the sidewalk.
Nicole Kidman took a nasty spill outside her hotel in the Upper East Side in New York on Thursday, September 12. The Aussie beauty was knocked over by a photographer on a bike when she was about to enter the Carlyle Hotel in Manhattan. The incident sent her sprawling to the ground.
Kidman just returned from attending Calvin Klein's New York Fashion Week showcase at Spring Studios when the accident happened. Apparently, the shutterbug identified as Carl Wu was racing to catch up with her, who left the show in a car, to try to take a picture but he lost control of his bike.
Wu crashed his bicycle right into the "Grace of Monaco" star on the sidewalk. Both ended up hitting the ground with the actress bracing herself with her two hands to avoid hitting her head on the concrete. She looked in pain as she got back on her feet with the help of an assistant.
There were no visible injuries, but 46-year-old Kidman who wore a knee-length form-fitting grey frock with a thin gold belt was seen rubbing her right leg. The wife of country music crooner Keith Urban, looking shaken, was later hobbling into her hotel with just one of her high heels.
Police and ambulance were called to the scene shortly afterwards. While the cops were seen questioning Wu about the crash outside the building, paramedics treated the "Hemingway & Gellhorn" actress inside the hotel for her injuries.
According to E! News, the 19-year-old cyclist was taken into custody and later released after being issued summonses for reckless driving, riding a bicycle on the sidewalk and riding without a helmet.
