The first trailer for Keanu Reeves's upcoming film "Man of Tai Chi" has been debuted at the Beijing International Film Festival. The action film will take fans to watch new interpretations of Chinese martial arts as the lead actor Tiger Chen takes the traditional martial arts to a modern level.
The preview sees Chen getting engaged in a death match where there is "no referees, no rules, pure fighting, man-to-man." Capturing fierce matches involving several ruthless contestants, the trailer later reveals who the man behind the competition is as Reeves says, "Let the show begin."
Reeves reveals that his leading actor Chen has all what his film needs as he possesses a "strong and traditional heart, but is a modern man." Enjoying his first directing gig, the Jack Traven depicter in "Speed" says that he is now looking forward to directing more films in the future.
Penned by Michael G. Cooney, the film follows the spiritual journey of a young martial artist (Chen) whose skills present him with both exciting opportunities and painful choices. The film reunites Reeves with his martial art trainer in "The Matrix" trilogy Chen as well as Yuen Woo-ping, who served as the action choreographer in the Wachowski brothers' trilogy.
In addition to Reeves and Chen, "Man of Tai Chi" stars Karen Mok and "The Raid: Redemption" star Iko Uwais. Produced by China Film Group, Wanda Group, Village Roadshow Pictures, and Universal Pictures, the action film is set for a summer 2013 release in China.
