"The Great Gatsby" is off the list of holiday movies this year. The studio Warner Bros. announced on Monday, August 6 that they have decided to push back the Baz Luhrmann-directed film from Christmas Day to summer 2013 in order to net larger audience.

"Based on what we've seen, Baz Luhrmann's incredible work is all we anticipated and so much more. It truly brings Fitzgerald's American classic to life in a completely immersive, visually stunning and exiting way. We think movieogers of all ages are going to embrace it, and it makes sense to ensure this unique film reaches the largest audience possible," WB president of domestic distribution Dan Fellman said.

Should "Gatsby" retain its former release date, it would have gone head to head with Quentin Tarantino's "Django Unchained" which also stars Leonardo DiCaprio. However, WB have enough ammo this holiday season with the first of "The Hobbit" trilogy, "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey", premiering a week before Christmas.
