Russell Brand lost his cool during a recent stand-up show. While performing at the Borgata Resort and Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey last Saturday, May 5, the "Get Him to the Greek" star got heckled by an audience member who repeatedly shouted out his ex-wife Katy Perry's name, but he quickly turned the table around.
In the video taped by another audience member, the 36-year-old comedian began to unleash his string of insult at his heckler by saying, "I want to see what this person looks like, turn the lights on for me because I really want to achieve some sort of confirmation. Let's have a look...Come here, let's see you." He added, "Let's see how your mental illness looks in the daylight."
As he moved through the audience to get a better look, the "Rock of Ages" actor jeered, "It's you, is it? Oh, dear. I was hoping that your personality was just a result of physical beauty. But then I saw you. I thought, 'This guy's confident, probably, because he's incredibly handsome,' but look at you. You look like somebody who's fallen off the outside of a church."
"And what is it that you have rattling around your mind, some bizarre combination of alcohol and idiocy...some cocktail of nothing. And yet the confidence to continue shouting," he went on taking a jab at the man. "They say of course, don't they, that empty vessels make the most noise. What an enormous echo of nothingness from you."
Not stopping there, Brand continued to say, "I know on some level, despite your physical appearance to an ape, that you're a human being." He eventually told the man, "I think silence is your friend. I think keep your lips firmly, firmly clamped together. Because everything that comes out of your mouth, from your idiotic announcements to your disgusting halitosis that's coming through this room, is an abomination."
Dishing on what led to Brand's explosive attack at his heckler, one of the audience members told Life & Style, "This guy randomly yelled out 'Katy Perry,' and at first, Russell didn't make much of it. But in a little while, he did it again and Russell lost it. He actually climbed down off the stage, made the crew turn the house lights up and told the audience to point the guy out."
