Giuliana Rancic has been treated to a surprise baby shower. The 37-year-old TV personality was left speechless at her Los Angeles office on Thursday, April 26 when her colleagues threw a mini party in celebration of her recent revelation that she and husband Bill Rancic are expecting their first child via a surrogate.

Since Giuliana and Bill are determined to keep the sex of their baby a secret, the surprise bash featured green and yellow confections and decor instead of the traditional blue or pink. Offering more details, one attendee dished to PEOPLE, "There were baggies to put mini-chick candies in to take home, and lemonade in jars with striped green straws in them."

On how the surprise went down, the insider spilled, "We waited for a good 10-15 minutes for G to come into the conference room where everything was set up. In true G fashion, she was on the phone until the very last minute we all yelled, 'Surprise!' " Giuliana herself has taken to Twitter to express her thought over the bash, "Luv u girl & my amazing @ENews family:)) I was shocked!"

Sarah Knight, Giuliana's assistant, earlier tweeted, "Just surprised @GiulianaRancic with a mini baby shower @enews! We're all so happy!!!" She later shared a photo of the E! News co-host covering her mouth in surprise as well as shots of the dessert table that featured confections by Los Angeles' Southern Girl Desserts and decor by Party Paper Wrap.

Having gone through several failed IVF attempts and a miscarriage, Giuliana and Bill announced on Monday, April 23 they are expecting their first child later this summer. "Everything happens for a reason, and we believe this is meant to be and the way it was supposed to work out," Bill said. "The baby is 100 percent genetically ours, it's our embryo."

There are significant doses of hormones used in IVF. These same hormones have been linked to breast cancer. Also, IVF labs create and destroy more embryos than they use, and they implant more than one in the mother. Many women then will selectively abort certain embryos to avoid multiples (triplets, etc). Surrogacy does the same: creation and destruction of multiple embryos, selective abortion. This is why my husband and I would never do IVF or surrogacy even though we are infertile. It's worth thinking about.
