Chad Ochocinco obviously doesn't mind spending a lot of money to make his fans full and happy. On Monday, March 12 night, the New England Patriots wide receiver reportedly dropped nearly $8,000 to treat 200 of his Twitter followers in New York to a dinner at Sylvia's Restaurant in Harlem. Sources told TMZ that he paid $7,914 for the free meal.
34-year-old Ochocinco sent an open invitation to his 3-million Twitter followers to dine with him at the restaurant earlier the same day. "Dinner in NY tonight," so the NFL star tweeted at around 4:13 P.M., "1st 200 people at Sylvia's Restaurant by 7 pm in Harlem. Leave ya money/credit cards at home. I got you this time."
The invitation proved to be a tantalizing one for Ochocinco's fans. About a half-hour before 7 P.M., the popular Harlem eatery has had a horde of his fans crowding outside. Posting a photo of the gathering crowd, the restaurant wrote on its Twitter account, "The line for @ochocinco is wrapping around the corner!!"
Trenness Woods-Black, the granddaughter of Sylvia Woods from whom the restaurant got its name, dished to New York magazine what they prepared for the dinner. "We served our most popular items," she said. "Barbecue ribs, fried chicken, mac and cheese, corn bread, iced tea, cocktails." The mag additionally noted that 200 red-velvet cupcakes from Cake Man Raven were served for dessert.
Ochocinco himself has since tweeted, "Now I've 200 new friends, even better 200 new friends have my phone number. Now that sh** is #Epic or #Crazy." Hours later, he complained, "I gave 200 people my number and only 13 people have texted me. That's rhino drpppings!!! I gave you my number to use it f**kers, let's go."
