Teen idol Selena Gomez might expand her career as a movie producer. The former Disney darling has been planning to develop a novel-adapted film called "Sky Is Everywhere", which is also eyed as her starring vehicle.

Deadline reported that the "Ramona and Beezus" actress and her production company July Moon has optioned the teen book written by Jandy Nelson. Aside from developing it, the 19-year-old starlet is set to tackle the lead protagonist named Lennie Walker.

Lennie is a 17-year-old bookworm and band geek who lives in the shadow of her extrovert sister Bailey. When Bailey suddenly dies, Lennie is left to take center stage and balance not only one, but two boys. One of the boys is Bailey's grieving boyfriend, while the other is a musically inclined transplant from Paris. As she tries to juggle both guys, her world threatens to collapse all over again.

Selena was last seen starring in coming-of-age comedy "Monte Carlo". Her upcoming movies include "Spring Breakers", which also stars Vanessa Hudgens, James Franco and Heather Morris, and some other comedy films like "Hot Mess" and "13 Reasons Why".
