The body of the 'Cherry Pie' rocker was discovered at the Comfort Inn hotel in Woodland Hills, California on Thursday evening, August 11.

Rocker Jani Lane has passed away at the age of 47. The former Warrant lead singer, who wrote the '80s glam rock band's hits "Cherry Pie" and "I Saw Red", was found dead at a hotel in Los Angeles on Thursday evening, August 11, TMZ reported.

His body was discovered at the Comfort Inn hotel in Woodland Hills, California. No official cause of death has been released, but he did have a history of alcohol abuse. In 2010, he was ordered to serve 120 days in jail after he was being arrested for DUI for the second time in two years.

Lane, whose real name is John Kennedy Oswald, has separated and reunited with Warrant on several occasions. He temporarily left the band in 1992, before returning in 1994. He left again in January 2004, only to return for a short while in 2008.

The rocker has released one solo album titled "Back Down to One". He made an appearance on VH1's "Celebrity Fit Club" in 2005, and served as a stand-in lead singer for Great White on their tour in the summer of 2010.
