'Akira' and 'Uncharted: Drake's Fortune' Lose Directors
Albert Hughes leaves the movie in which Keanu Reeves was expected to star, while David O. Russell exits the film which is based on a video game series for PS3.

A pair of Hollywood films have lost their directors. Firstly, "Akira" has lost Albert Hughes after Keanu Reeves ankled the sci-fi adventure movie last week. Deadline reports that the director has parted ways with the forthcoming movie over "creative differences". He will be in Hollywood to look at other scripts and find his new film at Warner Bros. Pictures.

Additionally, David O. Russell quits his directorial job in "Uncharted: Drake's Fortune". Similar to Hughes' case, Russell reportedly developed creative differences with Sony Pictures, which led to his departure. Meanwhile, Vulture argues that "The Silver Lining Playbook" will likely be Russell's next film as Mark Wahlberg is coming aboard.

"Akira" is based on Katsuhiro Otomo's graphic novel set in a metropolis that was rebuilt after being destroyed decades earlier by Akira, a child with immense psychic powers. It follows Shotaro Kaneda, the young leader of a motorcycle gang called The Capsules, who has to lead the charge against his very best friend Tetsuo who is unhinged by his destructive telepathic abilities.

Adapted from PlayStation 3 videogame, "Uncharted: Drake's Fortune" follows a descendant of explorer Sir Francis Drake, a treasure hunter named Nathan Drake as he searches for the lost treasure of El Dorado. The story is sort of Indiana Jones adventure but is set in the present.
