Lionsgate is going full throttle with its upcoming adaptation of best selling young adult novel, "The Hunger Games". The studio has picked a release date for the movie, announcing that they will debut it in theaters across the nation on March 23, 2012, just in time for Easter holiday.

Living in the poorest district of Panem, she "must participate in a fight-to-the-death annual event called the Hunger Games. The battles are televised, and pit youths from each of the Capitol's 12 Districts against each other," The Hollywood Reporter sums up the story.
No cast has been announced for the film which has had Gary Ross on board to direct. Principal photography is set to begin in late spring or summer.
