The two actors were joined by their co-stars, Mark Ruffalo and Ben Kingsley, when hitting the red carpet of the premiere of their film at the 2010 Berlin International Film Festival.
On Saturday, February 13, "Shutter Island" was screened for the first time at the 60th Berlin International Film Festival. Being photographed coming to the event were some of the film's stars, including Leonardo DiCaprio and Michelle Williams.
Donning a formal outfit, the 35-year-old actor was seen taking picture with fans who eagerly waited for him in front of the building. Later, Williams was snapped gracefully hitting the red carpet by wearing a white and black dress. They additionally were joined by co-stars Mark Ruffalo and Ben Kingsley as well as director Martin Scorsese.
On the same day, DiCaprio also attended a press conference for "Shutter Island" which took place at Grand Hyatt Hotel in Berlin, Germany. Commenting on the movie, he said as quoted by AP, "['Shutter Island'] was a complex jigsaw puzzle of emotional back stories and dream sequences and truth and fiction. It was challenging and fulfilling."
"Shutter Island" centers its story on two U.S. marshals, Teddy Daniels and Chuck Aule, who are summoned to a remote and barren island off the cost of Massachusetts to investigate the mysterious disappearance of a murderess from the island's fortress-like hospital for the criminally insane. It is planned to hit U.S. theaters on February 19.
The 2010 Berlin International Film Festival has been kicked off on February 11 and will last until February 21. Beside "Shutter Island", some Hollywood movies which were premiered at the annual event included Roman Polanski-directed thriller "The Ghost Writer" and Ben Stiller-starring drama comedy "Greenberg".
