Tony Gonzalez, the football tight end for the Atlanta Falcons, lends his muscular body to support People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA)'s anti-fur ad. With the companion of his wife October, the twosome takes their clothes off and poses naked for the lens.
In his attempt to encourage people to stop wearing fur and eating meat, Tony is quoted as telling reporters, "We should be protecting animals, not sacrificing their lives for the sake of fashion or luxury." He also says, "October and I have changed many of our habits in light of the inhumane treatment of animals that occurs not only in the fur industry but also on factory farms."
In a behind-the-scenes interview with PETA, Tony opens up about the benefit he's got after ditching meat and dairy products two years ago. "I'm going into my 13th year in the NFL, and I switched over [to a plant-based diet] two years ago. ... [T]he day after a game, everybody's sore ... and I'm jumping rope and they're looking at me like, 'Man you're supposed to be the old guy on the team. You're acting like you're the youngest guy on the team'," he enthuses.
On having his wife October posing naked for the cause, Tony comments "My wife is a pretty woman. She's like a flower. It's nice to be looked at."

Catherine_2009 PLEASE see christian Serratos page about PETA where she posed. I revised my comment there, but more importantly, watch the video showing them putting the shoot together. EVERYONE watch the video! She gives an interview and they show something everyone needs to see, then maybe you will have a better understanding as to why Tony and his wife posed, among others.
People who do this for PETA, take this "in your face" stand for their beliefs and to get people to stop and think.they mean what they say. Its meant to be as dramatically tasteful as possible to get their point across. No clothes than to wear fur. i feel the same and if famous, I'd tastefully do it as well. it's not as if the photos are Penthouse or even Playboy material. It has nothing to do with "showing off", but taking a strong stand to put a stop to something that is completely not necessary! Wear other things to keep you warm besides fur, it can be done you know!
to:catherine_2009 can you get any more old fashioned? only we Americans look at nudity as taboo anywhere else in the world it is beautiful, natural and artistic. these two look gorgeous in a tasteful classy ad that stands for something good. you cant knock that!
i agree we shouldn't wear fur and eat poor innocence animals but why do you have to get naked and show your wife off your body is for you and your spouse to see not the whole world if you respected her and for yourself you wouldn't go nude
