Rumor has just arrived on the web, suggesting Britney Spears is working on her second greatest hits compilation. According to GimmeBritney, the record is due for September release and will include songs from two of her latest albums, "Circus" and "Blackout", as well as 6 new tracks she is currently recording.
Earlier last month, Britney Spears was rumored to re-release "Circus". She reportedly gets helping hands from producer Fernando Garibay (Lady GaGa) and songwriters Olivia and Miriam Nervo (David Guetta).
While no statement is made by Britney's camp concerning the rumor of her new project, the "Womanizer" hitmaker tweeted about working in studio with Max Martin in Stockholm. Beside recording new songs, she will also return to Canada and North America for a number of concerts with Ciara and Kristinia DeBarge as supporting acts.
Britney will start the gigs at Copps Coliseum in Hamilton, Ontario on August 20 and finish it off at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada on September 27. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, she said, "We have a song called 'Mannequin' that we're adding to the show, which I'm really, really excited about, so it should be interesting. We have to update [the show] or it gets really boring." More detailed info about her forthcoming shows can be seen on her official website.

I think it may be good for Britney to take a break however I don't like the idea of a greatest hits album. A compilation album of hits from 2 albums isn't much of a greatest hits. Yeah there's 6 new songs involved but that's like half an album which means half of the greatest hits will be filled with old material. How many hits has she had from these last two albums anyway? "Gimme More", "Piece of Me" "Break The Ice"? (I don't think that was much of a hit anyway) "Womanizer" "Circus" "If You Seek Amy" "Radar"?(Radar might not even really be a hit yet but, like they'll probably do with BTI, they'll probably put it on there anyway). I hope this isn't true because I don't want a greatest hits album to be put out and it's just filler and doesn't mean anything. If she's going on break and wants fans to have somethng before she leaves then she should just release a short EP of new songs. But I really hope this is just a rumor. A break, I don't mind but while I love getting new Britney material, I do mind a greatest hits album that isn't sincere.
Just about every cd in the world is filled with six or seven filler songs...and BTI was a good song with a so-so video. However, I do see your point. Perhaps, instead of putting old songs on the CD she should include some of the songs that never made the cut, like Sugarfall and And Then We Kiss(preferably the Lovestoned version).
