Patrick Swayze has been hospitalized with pneumonia, it has been revealed at a press event for the Television Critics Association in Los Angeles on Friday, January 9. The actor, who is battling stage 4 of pancreatic cancer, initially was scheduled to appear at the event to discuss his upcoming drama "The Beast."
On behalf of Swayze, Abbe Raven, who is the president of A&E, the distribution company of "The Beast," issued a statement during the press event, confirming "Patrick has asked that I tell you that he has checked himself into the hospital this morning for observation after coming down with pneumonia." No words were given on the name of the hospital where the star was treated and on his latest condition.
In a further statement, Raven continued, "As anyone who has had a friend or family member that has undergone treatment for cancer, chemotherapy can take a toll on you immune system." Raven added, "Patrick did want me to tell you that he is very sorry he couldn't be at panel this morning, but he plans to get back to promoting The Beast as soon as he is back on his feet."
And while it is not yet known on when Swayze will be discharged from the hospital, his mother, Patsy Swayze, confirmed on Friday afternoon her son was "doing as well as can be expected."
In early March last year, a representative for Patrick Swayze confirmed the movie star has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, but will still continue filming cable pilot "The Beast". Being reported to be in near death as his pancreatic cancer has spread to his liver, Swayze told the press in December, "It's a battle, and so far, I've been winning. I'm one of the lucky few that responds well to treatment."

I read that you "believe in a higher power" and that you have done some searching for God (article saying you've studied some topics). Patrick, it is wonderful that you are searching for the true, the only God. There is only one way to get to our Father, and this is through His Son, Jesus Christ. Please call upon His Name. He will give you amazing peace. There is nothing more important for you (for anyone) to do except to call upon the Name of Jesus and ask Him to be your Lord and Savior. There is an eternal destiny...Heaven or Hell, and faith cannot be "ify." Faith is a gift from God. Nothing we can do can earn it or Heaven. But you can accept this gift. I believe He will heal you if you believe He will. Please read the Holy Bible and read Isaiah 53. Read the Gospels. Read as much as you can; the Holy Spirit will guide you. Do not be afraid. I believe you can take charge of this illness. You sound like a man of faith, so please profess it and do not be ashamed. Then watch God's glory! It will be a testimony for all. The "Higher Power" you seek is JEHOVAH...which means LORD. Jehovah Rapha is God our Healer. Jesus healed the sick in multitudes. He is the same, yesterday, to- day and tomorrow. I believe He will heal you if you trust in Him and be a voice. I am praying for you to have faith in the true and only God. Speak it so your peers also hear it. So many are on the wrong track. i watched the barbara walters speacial and was totally choked up. patrick is one of my favorite movie stars i love every movie he has been in to date. he is the most incredible person that i've read about and makes my life seem good. i pray that lisa has the strength within herself to fight this battle with you.. keep the faith and you can do this it is who you are.
