Nigel Cole, who previously directed "Calendar Girls", is taking "The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole" as the next film project he's willing to direct.
Based on the best-selling British young-adult book by Sue Townsend, the drama movie will be produced by Brett Forbes, Patrick Rizzotti, and Alison Owen.
The novel itself concerns the trials and tribulations of a 13¾-year-old British teen searching for his identity and some degree of normalcy in his highly dysfunctional, working-class family.
