John Takes Part in "Billy Elliot" Opening Night



Elton John attended the musical "Billy Elliot" opening night held Thursday May 12, 2005

Rock legend Elton John joined the many British celebrities attended Thursday opening night of "Billy Elliot," a musical directed by Stephen Daldry tells about a miner's son's struggle to dance against the backdrop of Britain's bitter 1984-1985 miners' strike. John, who wrote the music for the show, attending the premiere at London's Victoria Palace Theatre with his partner, David Furnish.

Also in the audience were actor Jamie Bell, who starred in the original film, Hugh Grant and his woman friend Jemima Khan, Grant's ex Elizabeth Hurley and her boyfriend Arun Nayer, also Live Aid founder Bob Geldof.
