'Bruno' Dethrones 'Transformers 2' From North American Box Office's Top
July 13, 2009 09:07:04"Bruno" has strutted its way to the top spot of the North American box office over the weekend. Debuted Friday, July 10, at approximately 3,400 screens at 2,756 venues, the Sacha Baron Cohen-starring mockumentary scored $30.6 million and managed to steal the #1 position from "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen", which has dominated the revenue chart for the past two weeks.
Number-wise, the Dan Mazer-directed comedy beat out the $26 million opening weekend of Cohen's previous comedy, "Borat". However, it didn't make quite an impression like "Borat" which managed to rake in $26.5 million at only 837 theaters. "Bruno" started big on its opening day with $14.4 million, but had a huge drop of 39% on Saturday, July 11.

New 'Bruno' Clip Gives Out Extended Talk Show Scene
June 30, 2009 10:06:09Gearing up to the July 10 release of "Bruno" in the U.S., Universal Pictures has presented a brand new clip for the forthcoming comedy. Nearly a minute long, the clip serves to give out an extended preview of the talk show scene often appearing in the film's previous promo videos, displaying the time Bruno comes to a talk show whose audience is almost entirely African-American.
The snippet begins with a question from the host about how Bruno finds his African-American son, which is quickly responded by the gay fashionista with a shocking answer. Asked further what he swapped the baby for, he states that it is for an iPod, igniting a rage within the audience. Bruno then explains that the iPod he used for the trading is not an ordinary stuff.

Paying Respect to Michael Jackson, La Toya Jackson's Scene in 'Bruno' Cut Out
June 26, 2009 02:06:27Michael Jackson's sudden death apparently has altered Sacha Baron Cohen's latest comedy "Bruno". Prior to its Los Angeles premiere on Thursday night, June 25, the comedy movie has undergone a significant cut with the elimination of a scene featuring Michael's older sister, La Toya Jackson, out of respect to the mourning family.
The scene reportedly is similar to the prank done to "American Idol" judge Paula Abdul, where she was coaxed over to a home in Los Angeles to do an interview with Bruno. It is claimed that during the La Toya's scene, this fictional gay Austrian fashion journalist creates a pretext to copy Michael's telephone number from her BlackBerry.

On Wednesday, June 17, Empire Leicester Square has been turned into a catwalk for Sacha Baron Cohen's latest eccentric character, Bruno, who came into the special screening wearing a skimpy variation of the uniform worn by the Buckingham Palace guards.
The flamboyantly gay character arrived in style. Wearing a towering bearskin hat, a red military waistcoat and tight black shorts, the Austrian fashionista walked down the black carpet accompanied by a group of similarly attired men before posing at a white platform nearing the end of the catwalk.

'Bruno' Allegedly Gets Reshoot to Appease Gay Community
June 18, 2009 11:06:42Universal Pictures and Sacha Baron Cohen, according to The Wrap, have reshot some parts of movie "Bruno" because of pressure coming from prominent gay community in Hollywood. Additionally, the media reports that the studio and the actor plan to add an "ending shot this spring with the participation of Elton John, Coldplay's Chris Martin and other music celebrities, who seem to promote gay marriage in a spoof charity video."
Writer/director Mike White, who is gay and part of Hollywood's comedic power circle, says he "found the Bruno character to be a depiction of fetishism rather than a comedic stereotype." Refusing to give further comments on the matter, he only states, "People are going to have a range of reactions to the film. I'm excited for people to see the movie, because it's going to generate a lot of interesting discussions."

'Bruno' Unleashes More Craziness Through First 3 TV Spots
June 10, 2009 10:06:06Universal Pictures have released three brand new made-for-television promo videos for "Bruno". Filled with many never-before-seen footage from the upcoming comedy, each of the spot brings up different themes. The first one focuses on who Bruno is, the second one highlights on the real people's reactions, and the last one includes a segment from Bruno's interview with Ron Paul.
The first spot called "Bruno Ist" displays snippets of Sacha Baron Cohen in costume and introducing himself as Bruno. It also exhibits the time nearly-naked Bruno invades a mall strapped to another man. While the second spot shows many similar footage to the trailers, the third spot gives out how he ticks off Ron Paul during an interview.

May 22, 2009 10:05:13More than a month after the red band trailer of Sacha Baron Cohen-starring comedy "Bruno" made its way out, Universal Pictures have presented a green band version of the trailer. Popped out via MTV, this is said to be the trailer attached to "Terminator Salvation".
Much of the footage seen in this trailer is similar to the red band one with the exception of the nudity, sex kits and other NSFW (Not Safe for Work) elements. While genuine new footage are hard to find, several fresh snippets are still added at the final half of this trailer. A glimpse of him asking a karate master how to avoid homosexual's attack is among the new footage.

After crashing in a fashion show by designer Agatha Ruiz de la Prada in Milan and popping by anti-gay marriage rally in Los Angeles, the gay Austrian fashion reporter came by the set of NBC's "Medium" on November 7, causing the production to be temporarily halted.
Entertainment Weekly's The Ausiello Files reported that during the shooting of a scene involving Patricia Arquette for the supernatural drama series, an extra constantly disturbed a tense courtroom scene. Initially, it is said that no one noticed that the troublemaker was Cohen disguising as Bruno. It is only after security forcibly removed him from the jury box, that everyone realized the fact.

On Sunday, November 2, the gay Austrian fashion reporter turned up at a rally supporting Proposition 8, the anti-gay legislation, in Los Angeles.
Dressed in a blonde wig and blue sweater, Bruno marched with the demonstrators while being trailed by cameras in the rally across from City Hall. I was laughing my ass off when I say it opening day. But it wasn't as funny as Borat, and could use a few less gay sex scenes.
