Anna vows revenge for the attempt to kill Marcus. She orders Ryan to infiltrate the Fifth Column and kill Eli Cohn. With his daughter's health in Anna's hands, Ryan has no choice but to do as she says. But Cohn and his men are waiting for Ryan when he arrives at their hideout. They take him hostage. When Anna finds out, she tips off the FBI as to Cohn's whereabouts. She's hoping for a bloodbath between the feds and the Fifth Column while the Visitors lay low in the background.

Erica has been pulled from active duty because the Marcus shooting took place while she was in command. It may actually be a blessing, as she's looking forward to spending some quality family time with Tyler and Joe. But when Eli Cohn calls to say they've captured Ryan, Erica heads over to the hideout.

Dozens of federal officers quickly surround Cohn's building. What they don't know is that one of their own is inside. Erica realizes the reason she didn't get called to the scene is because her colleagues suspect she's working with the Fifth Column. In order to prove them wrong, she offers to play the role of a hostage. It'll buy them some time until they figure out a plan.

When Anna sees that Erica is being held captive, she orders Thomas to find a way to get Joe inside that building as well. If both of Tyler's parents are killed during this situation, he'll have nowhere to turn but to her. When Joe reaches the standoff site, a sleeper V posing as an FBI agent named Ray Caldwell tips him off to a secret entrance into the building. Joe takes the bait and makes his way inside. Anna's plan is taking shape.

With the FBI on the verge of storming the building, Cohn finds a way to buy more time. He sends a message to a team of suicide bombers positioned out front. The men reveal the explosives they have draped across their bodies as they drag multiple hostages inside. Cohn knows that this is the beginning of the end for him. But the war against the Visitors must continue with Erica as the new leader of the Fifth Column.

Marcus made a deal with Hobbes awhile back. Anna wants to use him now, so Thomas gives him a device that will detonate the explosives brought into the building by the suicide bombers. If Hobbes doesn't do as they say, he'll never see Sarah alive again. We're still not sure who Sarah is, but she's obviously very important to Hobbes.

Father Jack receives notice from the Vatican telling him he must turn over his collar, for he is no longer a priest. Chris Bolling threatens to come after Jack if anything happens to Erica. Speaking of Erica, she's still inside the building listening to Ryan apologize for betraying them. But it's too late for that. On the bright side, Erica and Joe share a kiss and promise to make up for lost time.

Erica leads the hostages and Cohn's most trusted colleague out of the building. Cohn and his men are still inside as Hobbes presses the detonation trigger. BOOM! A massive explosion rocks the city. Chunks of the building crash onto civilians below. Surviving Fifth Column members engage in a gun battle with FBI snipers. It's chaos as those caught crossfire scramble for safety. Though most survive the epic gun battle, Joe Evans does not.

Anna realizes that Diana is consistently trying to fuel human emotions into her. She assures her mother she'll have to try a lot harder if she wants to destroy her. Diana seems to be up for that challenge. She may even get a little help from her granddaughter. After all, Diana and Lisa both share a common enemy.

The events of the day lead Bolling and Kendrick to believe that Erica is clean. But Tyler is furious with his mother. He's moving onto the mothership and there's nothing Erica can do about it. There is something she can do about the Visitors though. She tells Jack, Chad and Hobbes that there will be no more reacting to Anna. They must go on the offensive. Strike first. Strike hard. Erica says, "We have an army now. And we are going to rain hell on the Visitors."
