There's a big fancy ball coming up. Naomi is giving a speech about her boss, William White, who has been getting a little flirty with her lately. It's making the typically cool Dr. Fife squirm in his wheelchair. As for Cooper and Charlotte, they don't flirt, they fight. But Pete and Violet seem to have turned a corner, as Pete has ditched the idea of staying mad at her. As for Addison and Sam, one word says it all: Awkward. But attendance at the ball is mandatory, so all of our favorite "couples" will be in attendance. Hope it's an open bar!

Cooper's 13-year-old patient, Paige, has a bite mark on her neck. It seems she has a vampire thing going on with her boyfriend, who says he's walked this Earth for 2,000 years searching for his soul mate. The kid looks good for his age. Unfortunately, the little bloodsucker has been biting around behind Paige's back and gave her Hepatitis. Paige can't believe that her immortal beloved betrayed her. Charlotte knows a little something about heartbreak, so she offers to have a chat with the girl. Her words hit home, not only with the patient, but with an eavesdropping Cooper.

Addison has to perform and emergency C-section on a woman, Lauren, who was fished out of the water by the Coast Guard. Both baby and mother were saved, but the infant is having a tough time. Violet discovers Lauren has been distraught since her husband left her. Unless Sam operates on her, Lauren will die. Unfortunately, that's still exactly what she wants. She won't consent to heart surgery.

Lauren is still hoping her husband Michael will come back. Addison tracks down Michael only to discover that he wants nothing to do with her or the baby. Addison wants to keep this a secret until Lauren has the surgery. Sam doesn't want to give her false hope. It'll be like fixing her heart just so it can be broken again. There's a not-so-subtle subtext to their conversation, as it parallels their current relationship. Told ya it was awkward.

It's the night of the big ball and Naomi makes her speech about William White. When William stops by her table to say thanks, Naomi rambles on about everything in her life. We're talking everything, including the part where she thought he was flirting with her. Yes, there was an open bar and Nay made the most of it. Turns out William was, indeed, flirting which leads to some dancing, as a visibly uncomfortable Dr. Fife looks on.

Violet is grateful that Pete is done being mad at her, but she's still too messed up to do anything about it. Dell is also still upset about the Heather situation. He wants to move on, but can't take off his wedding ring. Addison and Pete find a quiet place to chat about the pursuit of happiness. Addison doesn't think either of them will find it at the ball. She says, "All I want to do is go home and kick off these incredibly painful shoes, eat pizza and watch some really bad TV where people's lives are more screwed up than mine."

Addison does end up at home and the TV is on, but she's not watching. No, she's too busy rolling around on the floor with Pete. Guess there was nothing good on the tube. While basking in the afterglow, Pete confesses that he's still in love with Violet. That's okay because Addison tells Pete that she may be in love with Sam. What should they do about that, you ask? Well, they should have more sex with each other, of course. And they do!

At the hospital, Addison and Sam's patient needs surgery now. Addison tells Lauren the truth about her husband. She says her baby has been alive for one day and found the strength to survive. She can do it, too. Lauren agrees to the surgery. Later, Addison brings her baby girl by. Lauren apologizes for hurting her. This prompts Addison to ask Sam if they are going to ever get past their problems. All he can say is "I'm trying."

Dell stops by Violet's office, sits down and takes off his wedding ring. Violet is impressed. She wishes she had his strength. Elsewhere, Naomi stops by to see Sam after discovering that Violet has been helping him plan Maya's wedding. She offers a few suggestions that may also help. Then she runs into William White, who asks her out for drinks. Naomi accepts and they step into the elevator together. They lean in for a kiss as the doors close and a disappointed Dr. Fife watches from down the hall.

Addison and Pete end up back in bed together wondering if they'll ever "not" be in love with other people. They don't have the answer. Guess they'll just have to keeping sleeping with each other until they do.
