Three proposals, three very different approaches. Dave proposes to Julia in his self-deprecating manner while Rex masterfully recites Shakespeare for Leigh. Only last week, Vance and Amy let a heated argument turn into - what else? - yet another marriage proposal!

Dave, Julia, Rex and Leigh drive to the airport to pick up the newly engaged Vance and Amy. Rex is thrilled for the couple, but Julia expresses concern. Are Vance and April rushing into marriage in order to fix their tempestuous relationship? The last time they needed to mend their relationship they impulsively bought a bird and then watched helplessly as it crashed into a ceiling fan. While Rex and Leigh rush into the airport to greet Vance and April, Julia tells Dave that she's going to share her concerns with Vance. Dave urges her to reconsider - and butt out!

At the terminal, Julia does her best to seem enthusiastic, yelling, "The happy couple!" as Vance and Amy exit the plane. Vance suspects that Dave isn't happy for him and immediately accuses Dave of being against the marriage. Cornered, Dave admits Vance and Amy are moving a little fast, an admission that provokes rage from not only Vance and Amy, but from Rex and Leigh as well. Vance and Amy storm off, leaving Dave deflated and wondering, among other things, why Vance proposed to Amy with Julia's ring.

At the gym, Leigh offers her wedding planning services to Amy and jets off to get started. Amy surprises Julia by asking her to be her maid of honor. Julia agrees and immediately starts pampering Amy by getting her a towel and water. At Dave's office, Vance admits that Dave was right: this marriage thing is a bit rushed. Vance let his emotions get the best of him and now he's not so sure this relationship has what it takes to last forever. Vance is afraid to tell Amy how he feels, so he wants Dave to share his concerns with her and hopefully torpedo the engagement.

Dave agrees to sit Amy and Vance down and share his concerns, but there's one small problem: Rex has overheard the plan. Rex immediately calls Leigh and tells her Vance is getting cold feet. Thankfully Dave interrupts the call before Rex spills the beans. Meanwhile, Leigh and Julia take Amy shopping for a wedding dress. Amy looks beautiful and seems to enjoy bossing around her maid of honor Julia. Later, Dave tells Amy and Vance that he feels they engagement might be a bit premature. Suddenly Rex and Leigh barge in and Leigh blurts out the truth: Dave is actually voicing Vance's fears about marrying Amy! Enraged and humiliated, Amy storms out.

Vance, Rex, Julia, Leigh and Dave crowd into Rex's Bentley to search for Amy. Vance finally finds a sullen Amy at a picturesque lodge - the site of their now-canceled wedding. Vance begs for forgiveness and confesses his love, but Amy's more practical: she says at this point, she knows Vance loves her - she's just not sure she wants to keep putting up with his crap. After listing Vance's strengths - he's tall and he makes her laugh - Amy decides to stick with him. They passionately kiss.

Thinking Amy and Vance are probably in a physical fight by now, Rex, Leigh, Dave and Julia enter the lodge. To their surprise, Amy and Vance have already reconciled and better yet, the wedding's back on. Vance decides he wants to honor Amy with a more romantic proposal this time, not one that arises out of a fierce argument. Unconvinced, Dave urges Vance and Amy to reconsider. After all, the fact still stands: they're being insanely impulsive. To be married, they have to be sure it's the right thing. Julia disagrees, urging Vance and Amy to get married. After all, Julia adds, she wasn't sure about marrying Vance. Dave's face falls. He's never known that before.

Outside, Julia apologizes to Dave. Julia says she always loved Dave, it's just that during their engagement she couldn't be certain that getting married was the right step. And the reason she appeared so relaxed at their wedding was that she was totally wasted. That's why she stumbled down the aisle, face-planted the wedding cake, and hurled expletives during her vows. However, since the wedding, Julia readily admits that she's come to realize that getting married was absolutely the right thing to do. Finally in good spirits, Dave tells Vance and Amy they have his blessing! In order to celebrate, Vance proposes to Amy in a variety of clichéd ways - at a fancy dinner, with rose petals, and naturally, on a JumboTron.

Dave takes Julia on a spin in Rex's Bentley, but Julia immediately senses something's up. She correctly intuits that Rex talked Dave into buying the luxurious car; that frantic search for Amy was really just Rex's twisted version of a test drive! Embarrassed, Dave promises to return the car to Vance right away.
