After downing champagne at a military-filled wedding reception, dozens of guests clutch their throats. They fall to the ground. Faces become discolored and mouths begin to char. Eight are dead. Many others are sick. The deceased partygoers were part of an anti-Hydra unit. Bakshi lets the agents who were posing as waiters know that he's disappointed in the mission's end result.

Simmons is brought into a high-level Hydra meeting where she sees pictures of the dead soldiers from the reception. They were killed during an attempt to reverse-engineer the effects of an alien artifact. Whitehall asks Simmons for her opinion on what went wrong. He's pleased to hear that they can still turn the Obelisk into a weapon of mass destruction.

Ward lets Skye know that he got the information about her father from Raina. He also says Garrett was carving symbols just like the ones Coulson has been drawing. Skye confronts Coulson about the etchings. His behavior was likely triggered by the GH formula. Skye hasn't reacted negatively to the injection of the alien DNA because it may have already been in her system.

The Doctor is furious when Raina comes to him for the Obelisk. He suggests that she beg Daniel Whitehall for mercy, as she won't get any from him. He's still waiting for her to deliver his daughter. Raina observes Simmons sending a message to S.H.I.E.L.D. She calls Coulson. Meanwhile, inside the Hydra lab, a lockdown is in place. Simmons does her best to remain calm as the announcement is made that there's a mole in their midst. She watches as her lab partner is pegged as the traitor by an intimidating female Hydra security chief.

Raina, wearing a lovely blue flower dress, joins Coulson for dinner. She threatens to expose Simmons as the Hydra spy unless he turns over Skye. The clock is ticking. Coulson has two minutes to decide. Skye will be brought to her father. It's what she's always wanted. Coulson calls Raina's bluff. No deal. An email is sent. Simmons is exposed as the mole.

Simmons flees into the hallway only to be cutoff. The Hydra security chief is headed her way flanked by two soldiers. Simmons is afraid. Then she's confused. The Hydra official takes down the soldiers with a series of swift martial arts moves. She leads Simmons away from danger letting her know that Coulson has a plan. It involves an extraction via the roof. Simmons and her fellow undercover operative, Bobbi Morse, leap off the side of the building to land on top of the awaiting cloaked QuinJet. Once inside, Trip welcomes Simmons home.

Coulson realizes that Raina is afraid of Skye's father. He's going to use her to get to Whitehall, but first they'll deal with Skye's dad. He's not far. Skye realizes this. She goes after him on her own. She finds a framed picture of him in his now-abandoned hideout. Coulson catches up with her. He promises that they will find her dad. He gives her a hug. Neither of them realizes that Skye's father is watching them via hidden camera. Two men who were clients of the Doctor are found dead in his makeshift OR. Coulson sees a camera in the room. He now realizes they are being watched. The Doctor sees Skye's disgust at what he did to the two dead men. He loses it when his daughter calls him a monster. Skye lets Coulson know that she'll do whatever it takes to hunt down her dad. She wants to be brought into the loop. Coulson obliges. He shows her his most recent carving. Skye realizes that what he's created is a map.Bobbi Morse managed to swipe Simmons' hard drive during their escape. Coulson has asked this amazing lady to join the team. This is going to be an adjustment for Hunter, as she's the she-devil ex-wife he's mentioned so colorfully in the past. In other news, Fitz is finally able to bid adieu to his imaginary Simmons. Then the real one steps up before him.

The Doctor steps into Daniel Whitehall's office. He easily neutralizes the guards. The Doctor opens a case. It contains the Obelisk. In its native language, it is called the Diviner. The Doctor will teach Whitehall how to survive it. After all, the two of them share a common enemy. His name is Phil Coulson. The Doctor believes he and Whitehall can work together to kill him-along with everyone else.
