House M.D. Episode 6.16 Black Hole

A group of high school students are on a field trip at a planetarium watching a display of the universe. The kids pass a water bottle filled with vodka along the row to each other. Seventeen year-old Abby takes a sip after being handed the bottle by her boyfriend, Nick. When she coughs, the teacher takes notice. As the teacher continues his lecture, Abby stares up at the ceiling. Nick spots foam coming out her mouth. She is not breathing.

Wilson and House spar about buying furniture for the new condo. House challenges Wilson to find his own style. Meanwhile, Chase, Thirteen and Foreman discuss Abby's case. Abby had a pulmonary edema that filled her lungs with fluid and almost suffocated her. House enters the office and questions where Taub is. House doesn't buy the explanation that Taub's car had a flat tire. Chase suggests an MRI to test Abby for cardiac lactic acid levels.

Taub is actually at home, with his wife complaining about their lack of time together. He arrives at the hospital at the same time as Nick and his father, Artie. Taub says they fear that Abby's drinking has damaged her heart. Nick asks Taub to tell Abby that he loves her.

Taub joins Chase in the radiology room to administer Abby's MRI. Chase lets him know that House thinks he was at home fighting with his wife. Taub tries to confide in Chase, who admits he's not the best relationship advisor. They find a problem in Abby's heart. The team deliberates if it is a fungus or enteric bacteria. The transesophageal echo test that gives a better image could trigger a heart attack.

Thirteen and Taub prepare the echo test for Abby. Thirteen asks Taub why he is lying to House. She thinks Taub's wife is probably worried that he is cheating again. He protests, but Thirteen says that he will have to prove it to his wife. Suddenly, Abby calls out in pain. They rush her to the O.R., and operate for hours on a tiny rupture in her heart. The bypass machine is off but her heart is not beating. They try to start it, but nothing works until Thirteen reaches in and massages it.

The team cannot find anything wrong with the heart. Thirteen suggests that perhaps Abby has an allergy, specifically to Nick's semen. Taub and Thirteen request a sample from Nick. Chase and Foreman perform the allergy test on Abby. Her mother is disappointed that Abby is having sex. Abby suffers from more stomach pain, and Chase sees blood in her urine catheter. The team meets to work on the challenge of why her kidneys are now failing. Chase mentions cancer. House orders a full body scan. Taub tells his marital woes to Foreman as they monitor Abby's scan.
