Brody's back! He's thrilled to see his favorite girl-Lily the dog! Of course, Brody's happy to see her beautiful dogsitter, too. Judging by the way Nora's acting, we're pretty sure she's also quite pleased that Lily's owner has made his triumphant return to Pasadena.

Justin is turning the big 3-0. In a refreshing change of pace, Nora suggests they have a dinner party at her place. Wait, that's not a change of pace. That's what they always do! Well, if it ain't broke... As for the birthday boy, Kevin agrees to help Justin complete all the things on his "30 things to do before 30" list. Well, they'll do all the things that don't involve flying cars or time travel.

Nora receives word that her mother has passed away. Tommy and Kitty won't be in town for the funeral, but the rest of the Walker kids are asked to speak at the service. Kevin's not hip on that idea, as Ida was never all that swell to him. As for Nora, she's in full funeral-planning mode. Brody tries to get her to slow down. She finally does long enough to break the sad news to a devastated Saul.

Nora's having trouble coming up with words for the eulogy. After all, Ida wasn't the warmest person. Brody wants her to be honest with her feelings, so she says a few things that make it clear that he left her life a long time ago to follow his dreams. Brody assures her that he's still trying to follow his dreams. That's precisely why he's here now.

Sarah admits to Brody that she would be fine if her second wedding was low key. They have this chat as Brody is busy packing to skedaddle. He claims he doesn't know how to help Nora. Sarah says, "Then figure it out." She's a wise woman that Sarah Walker. Of course, she's clueless as to how much the wedding means to Luc. He says, "I'm not trying to change how I feel about you, Sarah. I'm just trying to celebrate it." Nice.

As Justin cleans out Ida's place, he finds a photo of the grandfather he never met. Ida never found anyone else after he died. Justin fears he may end up just like his grandmother. Kevin pulls out that "30 things to do before 30" list to remind Justin that he has more determination than anyone he knows. If he doesn't want to end up like Ida, all he has to do is make another list.

One of the things Ida left behind was a letter addressed to Saul. He's afraid it'll say that she was ashamed of him for being gay. During the service, Nora breaks down as she gives her eulogy. Brody steps up to take her home. They have a heart-to-heart chat where Nora admits she had feeling for Brody way back when. Then Brody admits that he didn't come back just to get his dog. He came back to get Nora, too.

Scotty's judgmental mom, Bertha, is in town. She comes bearing gifts for her new granddaughter. It's a piñata, because all the Mexican kids love piñatas according to Bertha. Gamma Wandell immediately overwhelms Olivia. Things get awkward when Scotty asks her to dial it back a notch. Bertha admits that she's never had a great relationship with her son. Kevin reminds her that it's not too late to do something about that.

Remember that letter Saul got from his mom? Well, it turns out Ida only ever wanted Saul to find happiness. Scotty reminds him that he has it with Jonathan. As for Sarah and Luc, they finally decide what to do about the wedding. They'll let Kevin take over the planning. Justin makes a toast to his mom for all that's she's ever done for them. Nora then makes a toast to Ida. She wasn't perfect, but she was her mom. To Ida!
