AceShowbiz - Rocker Bret Michaels is undergoing surgery in Arizona to mend a hole in his heart. Doctors discovered the problem last year and the Poison star has finally checked into St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix.

His doctors hope to plug the hole with a permanent device on Monday, January 24. Michaels cheated death last year when he suffered a brain haemorrhage. It was while medics were treating him that they discovered he had a heart condition.

Bret Michaels got engaged to his on-and-off girlfriend of 16 years Kristi Gibson last year on the finale of his reality TV show "Bret Michaels: Life as I Know It". She was credited by him as "the one who put up with him all these years" including the time when he was fighting brain hemorrhage.
