Leona Lewis has been backed by PETA for urging BRIT Awards organizers to erase livers of fattened ducks from the event's menu since it is considered 'too cruel to serve'.

AceShowbiz - Executives at People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals [PETA] have praised organizers of the BRIT Awards for granting Leona Lewis' request to have foie gras removed from the event's menu. The "Bleeding Love" hitmaker was furious to learn the delicacy was to be served at the event in London on Tuesday, February 16 and launched a campaign to force organizers to drop the dish, which is made from the livers of fattened ducks.
Lewis even threatened to boycott the show, until Brits bosses backed down and granted her request. Animal rights chiefs have now praised the event's organizers for taking steps to ensure the menu is cruelty-free.
PETA's Rose Glover says in a statement, "Learning that the BRIT Awards is shunning foie gras is music to our ears. Foie gras is too cruel to produce in the U.K., and we're pleased that BRIT Award organizers have deemed it too cruel to serve."
