AceShowbiz - On a lively Saturday night at the iconic Abbey nightclub in West Hollywood, Madonna surprised fans with a rare late-night DJ set that showcased fresh music and a powerful message. The pop superstar arrived just after midnight, igniting excitement among a long line of attendees stretching down Robertson Boulevard well into the early hours.
The event, branded as Club Confessions, doubled as a birthday celebration for Tristan Schukraft, CEO of telehealth firm MISTR and owner of the famed venue. It served as a glimpse into what lies ahead for Madonna’s evolving musical journey.
Wearing a powder-pink bustier reminiscent of a Coachella outfit she previously sported, Madonna debuted two unreleased tracks: “Love Sensation” and “Freedom.” The latter, delivered in a demo form, quickly became the highlight of the night, captivating the crowd with its raw energy. Alongside these new songs, her recent single “I Feel So Free” and the 2005 hit “Hung Up” were also spun during the set.
The beats were expertly maintained by Stuart Price, the producer behind Madonna’s acclaimed 2005 album Confessions on a Dance Floor. Price is also involved in the upcoming release Confessions II, scheduled for July 3, which marks the star’s return to Warner Records. Before Price took the stage, Romy, fresh from performing at Coachella with her band The xx, and DJ Mez Monty energized the crowd with dynamic sets. Romy’s set included remixes of Ariana Grande’s “Into You” and her own collaboration “Higher Places,” while Monty teased with Madonna classics like “Get Together” and “Thief of Hearts.”
Behind the DJ booth, Madonna commanded the audience with a drill sergeant’s intensity. She repeatedly encouraged the crowd to seize their freedom, shouting, “Don’t wait. Take it. Take your freedom! Put your hands up!” She also implored attendees to disconnect from their devices, urging them to “put your phones down” and fully immerse themselves in the moment. At one point, she led a rousing call-and-response chant, “There’s nothing that we cannot do!”
The star-studded guest list highlighted Madonna’s enduring influence across entertainment and culture. Her daughter Lourdes Leon was present, as well as her boyfriend Akeem Morris. The crowd also included celebrities such as Cara Delevingne, Tom Daley, Tori Spelling, Lily Allen, Sky Ferreira, Addison Rae, Kali Uchis, Lola Young, and Vivian Jenna Wilson.
Adding to the vibrant atmosphere were stars from RuPaul’s Drag Race — including Willam, Trinity the Tuck, Morgan McMichaels, Gottmik, and Symone — along with TikTok creator Harry Daniels, who reportedly awaited outside to serenade Madonna upon her arrival.
This surprise appearance marked one of the most intimate glimpses into Madonna’s upcoming work since her last studio album, Madame X, released in 2019. Fans eagerly anticipate the July 3 drop of Confessions II, which promises to continue the legacy of her dance floor anthems.
The celebration at The Abbey not only offered early sounds of Madonna’s next era but also reinforced her command over live performance and connection with her audience. By encouraging fans to engage directly with the music rather than their screens, she emphasized the power of presence in a world increasingly dominated by digital distractions.
As the night wound down, the energy at The Abbey remained electric, a testament to Madonna’s enduring ability to captivate and innovate decades into her career. Her message was clear: freedom, both personal and artistic, is to be claimed boldly and without hesitation.
