AceShowbiz - Matt LeBlanc is set to star and executive produce a new drama series currently in development at CBS, the network announced on Wednesday. This project, with the working title Flint, is a departure from the comedic roles LeBlanc is known for, as it focuses on a gritty police story.
Flint is created by Evan Katz, known for his work on 24, and is produced by CBS Studios along with Jerry Bruckheimer Television. The storyline centers on an LAPD detective ready to retire who is unexpectedly ordered to continue his service for another five years. According to the official logline, the detective attempts to get fired by breaking rules and defying orders, but ironically, these actions improve his effectiveness as a cop.
If greenlit for series, Flint would join CBS’ primetime lineup for the 2027-2028 season. This marks a notable shift for LeBlanc, who is primarily recognized for his comedic television work, including his iconic role as Joey on Friends for all ten seasons, as well as roles in Episodes, Man With a Plan, and the spin-off Joey.
Meanwhile, in other casting news, Mike Mitchell, who played Stu on the Peacock series Twisted Metal, revealed on his Doughboys Media podcast that he will not return for the show’s upcoming third season. Mitchell expressed his disappointment, saying, “I am very kind of heartbroken about it. I love the show.” The series was renewed in November, and along with the renewal, Peacock announced that David Reed, known for his work on The Boys, will replace Michael Jonathan Smith as showrunner for Season 3. Peacock has not yet commented on Mitchell’s departure.
In music and reality TV updates, Adam Levine is confirmed to return as a coach for Season 30 of The Voice this fall, according to People. The network has not disclosed who will join him as fellow coaches for the new season.
Additionally, original Baywatch actress Erika Eleniak will guest star on Fox’s upcoming reboot of the series, reprising her role as Shauni McClain, per Variety. In the reboot, her character serves as a city council member in Santa Monica and will assist Hobie Buchannon, played by Stephen Amell of Arrow, in launching a “Beach Games” competition between Baywatch and the Coast Guard.
Reality streaming fans can look forward to Season 4 of Perfect Match, which Netflix announced will begin releasing episodes starting Wednesday, May 13. The first five episodes will drop on that date, followed by episodes 6 and 7 on May 20, and the finale on May 27. The season features a diverse cast of reality stars from various popular shows, including Alison Ogden from Building the Band, Ally Lewber from Vanderpump Rules, Brianna Balram from Too Hot to Handle and Battle Camp, Chris Dahlan from Age of Attraction, and many others from hit reality franchises like Love Is Blind, Temptation Island, and Love Island.
These developments highlight a dynamic mix of fresh drama, returning favorites, and reality TV excitement across major networks and streaming platforms for the months ahead.
