AceShowbiz - Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have come under sharp criticism from royal commentators during their recent trip to Australia. The Duchess of Sussex was accused by critics of inappropriately timing the promotion of her fashion app alongside a visit to a hospital for terminally ill children, sparking controversy over the couple’s conduct.
On Kevin O'Sullivan’s TalkTV show, royal commentator Kinsey Schofield expressed strong disapproval of the couple’s activities. She condemned Meghan Markle for posing with children suffering from terminal illnesses at The Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne while simultaneously promoting her new AI-powered fashion platform, OneOff.
Meghan recently became an investor and featured participant on OneOff, a fashion discovery app where fans can purchase her exclusive clothing edits. Kinsey described the timing of this promotion as highly inappropriate, stating that the couple chose Australia as the location to announce Meghan’s involvement in the app, whilst appearing alongside vulnerable children, including those battling cancer and anorexia.
According to Kinsey, the Duchess’ outfit worn during the hospital visit was made available on the app within minutes, a move she characterized as exploiting ill children to sell clothing for profit. Kinsey further remarked, "I look at that, and I think that Queen Elizabeth is doing a cartwheel in her tomb. There’s no way in hell she would have approved of something like that; she would have been disgusted by it."
She added that the presence of terminally ill children was being leveraged to promote Meghan’s wardrobe, calling it "the most vile thing I’ve ever seen in my life." Kinsey expressed disbelief that Meghan could stoop so low, highlighting the ethical concerns surrounding the use of such sensitive moments for commercial gain.
Kevin O'Sullivan also described the couple’s Australian tour as "weird," pointing out that it began with what he termed "faux visits" to women’s refugee centres and children’s hospitals. He criticized the trip as a series of staged public relations events designed to showcase the couple in a favorable light.
Kevin noted that one of the key events was a women’s weekend where attendees reportedly paid £1,700 to enjoy Meghan’s presence. He described the Duchess' appearance as brief, lasting only two hours before she left, which he considered outrageous given the high price paid by guests.
In response, Kinsey said the public should have expected this behavior, labeling both Meghan and Prince Harry as low-effort in their engagements. She criticized Meghan for avoiding demanding royal duties and instead focusing on lucrative social media posts, suggesting that neither she nor Prince Harry enjoys hard work or representing the British Royal Family in a traditional manner.
Kinsey expressed no sympathy for those who paid significant sums to attend events where they could "stroke Meghan’s ego," reinforcing her critical stance on the couple’s motivations and actions during the tour.
During the visit, Prince Harry was seen dancing with the daughter of veteran Joel Vanderzwan on April 14, 2026, an image that contrasts with some of the more controversial moments of the trip.
Meghan Markle’s representatives have been contacted for comment regarding these accusations, but no response has been made public at this time.
