AceShowbiz - Janelle Monáe has officially signed with United Talent Agency (UTA) for global representation across all creative sectors, the agency announced on April 8.

Jay Gassner, UTA partner and co-head of talent, praised Monáe as a generational talent and a true multi-hyphenate creative force. He expressed enthusiasm about collaborating with the artist and their Wondaland collective to expand opportunities in music, film, television, fashion, publishing, brands, theatre, and community initiatives worldwide.

Before this move, Monáe was represented by Wasserman (now THE•TEAM) for North America and WME internationally. This new partnership with UTA signals a broadening of Monáe's global presence in various entertainment and creative fields.

Monáe's most recent musical project, the 2023 album The Age of Pleasure, earned significant critical acclaim, garnering Grammy nominations for Album of the Year and Best Progressive R&B Album at the 2024 Grammy Awards.

Beyond music, Monáe has several acting roles lined up. Notably, she stars in Amazon MGM’s film Is God Is, scheduled for theatrical release on May 15. Additionally, she will lend her voice to Netflix’s upcoming adult animated series Bass x Machina, set to premiere on October 6.

In the realm of production and community engagement, Monáe founded the Wondaland Arts Society and Wondaland Pictures. The latter operates under a first-look deal with Universal Pictures, developing film, television, and multimedia projects. The Wondaland collective also produces Monáe's signature Halloween event, Wondaween, a city-wide festival in Los Angeles that spans locations such as cemeteries, theaters, the Hollywood Bowl, and the Santa Monica Pier.

Monáe continues to be managed by Mikael Moore, Nate Wonder, Chuck Lightning, and Kelli Andrews at Wondaland. Her legal representation includes Ben Rubinfield at Ziffren Brittenham, Matthew Johnson at Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole, and Jonathan Leonard. Public relations efforts are managed by ID PR.

Looking ahead, Monáe is set to perform live at Freely Fest in Nashville on April 8 and at the North to Shore Festival in Newark, New Jersey, on June 17. Her last major tour was the 2023 The Age of Pleasure tour, which ran from August 30 through October 18, supporting her latest studio album.

This new alignment with UTA is expected to unlock a wider array of creative ventures and collaborations for Monáe, further cementing her influence across multiple entertainment and cultural landscapes globally.
