AceShowbiz - Brooks Nader, who recently appeared on the cover of the 2023 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue wearing the iconic Baywatch one-piece, has landed a role in Fox’s upcoming Baywatch reboot set to premiere in the 2026-27 season.
Nader plays Selene, a lifeguard at Zuma Beach known for her sharp tongue and no-nonsense attitude. She serves as the captain of the lifeguards there and frequently clashes with the new, grown-up Hobie Buchannon, portrayed by Stephen Amell. Selene is described by Fox as highly skilled at her job but possessing a "very different approach to saving lives" compared to Hobie, which fuels ongoing friction between the two characters.
The tension intensifies when Hobie’s daughter Charlie, played by Jessica Belkin, joins the team. According to the character synopsis from Fox, the rivalry between Selene and Hobie “goes much deeper than lifeguarding,” especially after Charlie’s arrival. This storyline nods to the original Baywatch series, where Hobie Buchannon (originally played by Jeremy Jackson) began his lifeguard career under his father Mitch Buchannon, famously portrayed by David Hasselhoff.
Other confirmed cast members include Hassie Harrison as Nat, Thaddeus LaGrone as Brad, and David Chokachi reprising his role as Cody Madison from the original series. Cody, a fan-favorite character, now runs The Shoreline bar-and-grill, an unofficial Baywatch hangout, and occasionally returns to the water in his signature red trunks, mentoring the new generation of lifeguards.
The new Baywatch reboot, a joint production between Fox Entertainment and Fremantle, will begin filming this spring primarily at Venice Beach, Los Angeles, as well as Fox’s Century City backlot. The series also just kicked off table reads. Matt Nix serves as the showrunner and executive producer, with McG directing the premiere episode. Other executive producers include Michael Berk, Greg Bonann, Doug Schwartz, Dante Di Loreto, and Mike Horowitz.
The reboot’s synopsis reveals a fresh take on the beloved franchise: Hobie Buchannon has now stepped into the role of Baywatch Captain, following in his legendary father Mitch’s footsteps. His world changes dramatically when Charlie, the daughter he never knew, arrives determined to follow the family legacy and become a lifeguard herself. Meanwhile, Cody Madison continues to provide a home base for the lifeguards at The Shoreline.
Brooks Nader is also known for starring in Hulu and Freeform’s reality series Love Thy Nader, executive produced by Jimmy Kimmel, which follows her and her three sisters navigating their personal lives and careers. The show recently secured a second season. Additionally, Nader competed on season 33 of Dancing with the Stars.
Nader is represented by WME, Dixon Talent, Inc., and Leigh Fidler.
Baywatch was a global phenomenon, originally running for over 200 episodes and spawning several spin-offs including the less successful Baywatch Nights, made-for-TV movies, and a 2017 feature film starring Dwayne Johnson, Zac Efron, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and Alexandra Daddario. The new series aims to revive the franchise with fresh storylines while honoring the iconic legacy of the original.
