AceShowbiz - Amazon MGM Studios unveiled exciting footage of the upcoming action comedy heist film How to Rob a Bank during their CinemaCon presentation in Las Vegas.
The preview introduces a daring crew of criminals who have bank robberies down to a viral art form. The group posts videos of their heists on YouTube, having successfully robbed 15 banks and amassed an impressive following of 31 million subscribers. These robbers embrace their flamboyant style by wearing elaborate animal masks and encouraging each other to "make your outfits memorable, just have fun with it."
Nicholas Hoult leads the crew, donning a wolf mask as the mastermind. The rest of the team includes Anna Sawai, Pete Davidson, and Rhenzy Feliz. Davidson’s character humorously explains one of their key principles: the stolen money is always donated to a legitimate cause, joking that "OnlyFans is not a charity."
The film’s tagline, "Who is robbing who?" reflects its core theme. Director David Leitch, who joined Davidson on stage at the event, described the criminals as "regular people like you and me," who are taking a stand against greed and corruption. He characterized them as modern-day Robin Hoods, "taking from the rich and giving to the poor."
Alongside the main cast, the film also stars Zoë Kravitz, John C. Reilly, and Christian Slater. Leitch, known for directing action hits like Bullet Train, The Fall Guy, and Atomic Blonde, is both directing and producing the film. He partners with his wife Kelly McCormick under their 87North banner, alongside producers Brian Grazer, Jeb Brody, and Allan Mandelbaum from Imagine Entertainment.
The screenplay was written by Mark Bianculli, who previously worked as a writer and consulting producer on Amazon’s Nazi-hunting series Hunters. How to Rob a Bank is scheduled for a theatrical release on September 4.
CinemaCon, the annual convention for cinema owners and Hollywood studios, is held in Las Vegas and hosted by Cinema United, formerly the National Association of Theatre Owners. This year’s event runs from April 13 to April 16 and serves as a major platform for studios to showcase upcoming projects.
The combination of high-stakes heist action, comedic elements, and a socially conscious twist positions How to Rob a Bank as a standout film to watch later this year.
