AceShowbiz - Jay Electronica, the Roc Nation rapper, continues to publicly back Sean "Diddy" Combs as the music mogul awaits a ruling on his appeal.
On his album A Written Testimony: Leaflets, Jay Electronica references his personal connection to Diddy and the rapper’s former girlfriend Cassie Ventura, making clear where his loyalty stands. He states, "I lived with Puff while he was with Cassie," emphasizing that he was never involved in any legal documents related to Diddy's criminal case.
Last year, Jay Electronica showed up at a New York City courthouse to support Diddy during his trial. More recently, during a performance in Miami, he shouted “Free Puff”, expressing his belief that Diddy was wrongly targeted, saying, "They tried to hang my dawg on some bullsh*t."
The close relationship between Jay Electronica and Diddy spans years. Notably, in 2010, Jay Electronica featured a spoken-word appearance from the Bad Boy founder on the track "The Ghost of Christopher Wallace."
Currently, Diddy, 55, awaits the outcome of his appeal following a recent hearing before a three-judge panel at the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan. He was convicted on two counts related to transportation to engage in prostitution and sentenced to 50 months in prison. However, he was acquitted of more serious sex trafficking and racketeering charges.
Diddy’s legal team argues that the judge improperly considered evidence linked to the counts on which he was acquitted, including allegations involving Cassie Ventura. The appeals court has yet to issue a decision on the matter.
